Boatyard of the Year: Finalists announced

This morning we name two finalists in the Boatyard of the Year category. This award recognises the boatyard that is achieving best performance in this category, regardless of size, age or geographic location. This takes into account all aspects of boatyard management, and seeks demonstration of excellence in application, passion and vision.

The boatyard at Half Moon Bay Marina

The boatyard at Half Moon Bay Marina maintains an edge by doing the best job possible at a great price for the highly competitive Auckland market. It impressed judges with its highly professional operation, a great training program, massive upgrades to its hardstand resulting in better environmental outcomes, the installation of sheds for all-weather boat work, and they believe it to be the most technologically advanced yard in New Zealand.

The boatyard at Bay of Islands Marina

There are many reasons the boatyard at Bay of Islands Marina is important to Northland: economic, maritime and community related, and it has really stepped up to be deserving of its role in the region. Judges, who had experience of the yard as customers and as industry professionals, said that it was obvious an enormous amount of positive change has taken place and from that a highly professional operation has emerged. They found the distinctive team culture particularly remarkable, and they congratulate everyone involved in making that happen.

Congratulations!

Tomorrow, NZMOA will announce finalists in the Marina of the Year category. All winners will be announced at the celebratory Awards dinner, part of the New Zealand Marinas and Boatyard Conference in Wellington on 12 September, where all finalists will also receive a certificate.
