BRETT COLBY

Brett has been the Operations Manager at Half Moon Bay Marina since 1994.

Over his 30-year tenure, he has significantly contributed to the marina’s growth and development. His notable achievements include the refurbishment of the Heritage Marina, the development of the updated shopping centre, and the North Pier extension, which added 90 new berths.

Brett’s extensive career in the marina industry also includes playing a pivotal role in the inception of the New Zealand Marina Operators Association (NZMOA), serving on the executive board and introducing and writing the Clean Marina Programme. His engineering expertise was instrumental during his time as the Marine Travelift agent for the South Pacific and although Marina Projects has since wound up, Brett continues to offer guidance and support to former clients.

Additionally, Brett has leveraged his extensive knowledge to write training programmes for marinas and boatyards, ensuring best practices are followed. He has also established a comprehensive contractor induction process, now widely adopted by many marinas across New Zealand.
