A testimony for the Clean Marina programme

Gulf Harbour Marina received its first Clean Marina accreditation in 2020 - the same year it won the NZMOA Marina of the Year Award.

“Clean Marinas enables us to incorporate environmental initiatives into all of our future and current development projects in a way that resonates really well with our boaties and community. It’s good for everyone,” says Gulf Harbour Marina Customer Services Manager Lisa de Ruiter.

She says that while any business can claim to be environmentally conscious, having the Clean Marina accreditation takes it one step further.

“It shows evidence that we’re committed to an industry best practice; a solid environment-protection plan.”

Gulf Harbour Marina is on a programme of continuous environmental improvement. It is working closely with Auckland Council to ensure that it’s not harbouring or inadvertently spreading marine pests.

“We are an MPI Transitional Facility so this is important,” says Lisa.

It’s also implementing a new waste plan that is proving very popular with berthholders- of 450 responses in a recent customer survey, 96% approved to adopt it.
